Isaiah 43:1—”But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.”
Many times we hear the words of love songs echo “you are my love”, ” you are my sweet one”, “you are mine”. When we hear similar lines, we experience a ‘nice’ feeling of being wanted by someone, of being loved or we remember a special moment that causes us to smile.
Now take a look at these situations:
– you come home from work and feel all alone in your house
– you had a bad day at work where everyone was in on some activity that the Bible clearly says to avoid
– you felt left out in college because all the good looking crowd was invited to a party and you didn’t get any invite
– you were the only one in the lunch group who had no plans for the summer.
These are common, everyday situations which we may have gone through at some point, if not for something similar.
Even if we have no family, friends or support where we are, we must always remember that there is always ‘Immanuel’ (which means ‘God with us’). The God of Jacob and Israel has asked us never to fear. Israel’s only Savior has redeemed us through the cross. God has called us, you and me; He has called by our name. (If this is not happiness we cannot say what is!?) Imagine God talking to you saying — <enter your name here,> “you are mine” (remember that ‘nice’ feeling we spoke about earlier? Seems like it upped its description quota by a hundred times to a ‘super special’ feeling.)
When you go through a lull or dull moment, always remember this:
–God has set us apart for Himself, all who are redeemed with the blood of His Son – Christ Jesus.
–God is ‘for’ us (believers), so we need not fear who/what comes against us.
–God’s favor, and goodwill to His people, brings abundant comfort to all believers.
–God’s eyes view true believers as precious in His sight. He delights in us, above any people.
