Psalm 139:14 – “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”
13 year old Grace had experienced a difficult day in school. She felt she didn’t belong with any of the popular groups in her class, and was often left to have her lunch alone. Her natural shy personality didn’t make things any better either. She came home disheartened, wishing she wasn’t so different from everybody else. She conveyed the same sentiment to her mother who wisely replied, “Grace, you are not different. You are just unique.”
How many times have you felt like Grace did? You don’t fit in with your classmates, colleagues, and sometimes, even your own family members. That is because God created you different from everybody else! When He doesn’t create two snowflakes or seashells alike, do you think He’d make you a duplicate of someone else? God made you in His own image, unique and special – not like everybody else around you. Think about it… Today’s verse says God’s work is marvelous, which means, you, His unique creation are marvelous. He didn’t just create you on a whim. You were birthed in God’s mind long before you were born on this earth. Isn’t that amazing?!
The awesome God who created the raindrops, also created the storm. He formed the tender blade of grass and also the solid banyan tree. He made the bubbling brook and also the mighty ocean. God intentionally created you as you are. Your looks, your personality, your talents, are all intended to make you who you are. You are unique and you have a special place in God’s heart. Let that thought empower you as you journey through this week.
