God Will Never Give Up On You

Philippians 1:6—”Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:”

Paul and Timothy speak to the Philippians in this chapter. The Philippians felt a very deep interest for the apostle. Paul wanted to encourage them in the faith: to walk in the gospel of Christ, to caution them against false teachers and to express gratitude and commendation for their Christian faith and practice.

At one point in our life, we can all look back at how we lived in and around sin. We wanted to live and let live. We wanted to be known in the world – famous by name, wealth, or office. In this regard, we toiled at our job incessantly where nothing else stood a chance in competition. We wanted the best car, best house money could buy and everything that went with it.

Then the Lord said “Okay, this is quite enough. My child is doing only what they want, without heeding my call. They are living a life without a purpose. However, when I made them I had a plan/blueprint chalked out for them with blessings and provisions en route to keep them going.” God chose and planned each one of us before we were in our mother’s womb. When God saw us go astray, due to our prayers or prayers of our father/family member/friend/pastor, we were convicted of our sins. We were made to realise what we were doing was not in the will of God, for us. We were given this knowledge through God. God provided a way, a means to get back on the straight path that He had laid down for us. God wants us all to live happily and in prosperity. But to have this, we must walk in His will. We must obey His Word and have faith in Him. God wants us to be righteous like Him.

Having said all this, think about this. If God took so much trouble to do all this and also send His only Son to save you, do you think He is going to give up on you now? Nah. Our God will never give up till He completes ‘to perfection’ what He has begun. What Paul advised Philippians is applicable to us believers today – ‘And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], to develop [that good work]and perfect and bring it to full completion in you.’
Stick to God; He always and forever sticks by you.
