Matthew 26:39: And he went a little farther, and fell on his face and prayed, saying, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless not as I will, but as thou will.
Jesus was willing to do the will of God, His Father. As a human being, He was exhausted and was filled with agonizing pain in His mind about the dreadful thought of having to be crucified the next day. He needed strength and courage to undergo this painful ordeal and punishment for our sins. He prayed and asked God, the Father, to let that cup pass from Him if it is His will. He sought for God’s will over His traumatizing moments.
How many of us ask for God’s will over our life’s circumstances? Do we approach Him only when the going gets tough or do we ask His guidance over everything that bothers us? How committed are we to God? How much of God’s will do we want over our life? Have we asked God to take complete control of our life or is it only a partial submission of ourselves to Him? We shut God out of some things from our life and allow Him access to only a few things. We keep Him out of major decision making processes and give Him little or no space to enter other things in life. This is a wrong attitude before God.
Always pray and make your requests known before God. Come before Him with thanksgiving. Give Him everything that is bothering you and ask for His will over everything. His word says that He will instruct and guide us in the way we should go. He will do that only if you ask Him. He is a good teacher and a perfect guide. Let Him steer your life.
