Psalm 2:12 – “Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.”
In olden days, ministers of the palace bowed low before the king and kissed his hand to pay homage. It was a silent act but it loudly proclaimed their respect for the king. It was a mark of humility and signified that they submitted to His authority. While our Heavenly King does not expect such physical acts of respect from us, we must be conscious of our attitudes when we approach Him.
We cannot approach God with pride in our hearts. It’s tempting to come to God with an attitude that says, “I know what I want, and I want it now!” But we must remember that the Lord knows best. He is a dear Friend and loving Father, but He is also the eternal King and Master of all creation. We can be honest with him about our thoughts, hopes, desires, plans and feelings, but we must be able to humbly submit them at His feet.
Today’s verse reminds us about the wrath of God. But it also gives us a glimpse of His grace. It tells us of the abundant blessings that God has in store for those who trust Him. When you entrust your life in His hands, He will give you His very best. Humble yourself and surrender to God’s will… it’s the best way to live.
