Exodus 33:19: And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.
Moses wanted to see God. God put him in a opening in a cliff and passed there in such a way that he could only see His back. Moses understood one thing that though he could not see God in a way that he wanted to see, he could at least see the goodness of God pass by him. God is always gracious and merciful.
Nobody can ever question God’s acts of righteousness and kindness to people whom we dislike or wish bad things for. He sends His rain on both the good and the evil ones. God is not accountable to anyone with regard to whom He favours and whom He does not. He is not answerable to anybody for His actions. He does what He wants and feels is righteous and good. Sometimes, we feel so hurt when we see our enemies prosper or get promoted in jobs, etc. We don’t understand what formula God uses to bless someone whom we hate. God is not a respecter of persons. Though it is not always easy to accept what God does, it is best to leave things as is to God. It would be great if we can let our minds agree with everything that God does and to acknowledge the fact that He is sovereign and that He is a just God.
What we say or think does not change who God is. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Let God be God and be gracious and merciful with whoever He wants to be so.
