You are God’s masterpiece

Philippians 1:6 – “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (NKJV)

Paul had confidence in the Lord that what He had started in the Philippians, He would also continue and complete. That is not to say that the Philippians’ success was automatic. As believers, we have to cooperate with what God wants to do in our lives (Acts 27:22). This is so that we achieve spiritual maturity in this life, and in the age to come.

But how do we develop spiritually? Well, God can ONLY carry out the good works He has prepared for us to do in a life that is submitted to Him. He can only produce spiritual fruit in us when we abide in Him and walk in spirit and truth.

How do we discover what God wants us to do? First, we need to understand that His Holy Will applies to every area of our life. For example, our neighborhoods are more than a place we live in. They are mission fields, where we can serve the Lord with our time, talents, and treasure. That’s why it is critical to seek the Lord’s Will. What we think is a good opportunity, may not be what the Lord has in mind.

As we go about our daily lives, we must remember:

• Our purpose is to bring God glory; not ourselves, our family, or career.
• We were created to work for the Kingdom of God.
• God has provided everything we need to accomplish the tasks He has set out for us.

As we yield ourselves as vessels to be used of God, we will hear from Him, and be led by the Holy Spirit. And as for our state of ‘work in progress’, it will only be complete when the Lord returns to take us home i.e. the day of Jesus Christ. Until then, let us reflect His character, virtues, and love in everything we do.
