1 John 4:16 – “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.”
There is a striking difference between love and hatred, and they are absolute opposites. One produces joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. The other provokes discord, jealousy, fits of rage, dissensions, envy and the like. (Galatians 5:19-23).
One of the amazing truths about our God is that He Is Love. He freely gives it and it flows from Him, it covers over a multitude of sins, it transforms us, heals, and saves us.
In today’s verse, the Apostle John is saying that “we have known and believed the love that God has for us.”
Have ‘you’ known and believed Jesus? To know Him requires a relationship, closeness, constant interaction. The more we ‘know’ Him, the more intimate we become; our faith becomes stronger, and it generates in us a need to stay connected with our Lord Jesus, the source of all goodness, grace, and love.
When we abide in Him and He in us, His Love also begins to flow from us, we become vessels of His goodness, our attitude and behavior changes, and it impacts the lives of others around us. Once someone said that some people will never read the Bible, but they will ‘read us’.
Let’s continue to abide in God, and make it our objective, our decision to remain in His Love.
Praise God. Reading and meditating word of God is good for any one’s spiritual health. Because man can’t live by bread alone, but every word that proceeds from the mouth of Creator, who blews His breath into our nose and make us alive.
Loving Heavenly Father thank you, whoever is reading your word in the Bible is blessed to have daily manna which nourishes and flourishes in everyone’s spiritual and physical life. In the precious name of Jesus let’s all pray Amen.
