Servant or Child of God?

Joel 2:29 (NKJV): And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.

God first poured out His Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost. This Holy Spirit outpouring has made Jews and Gentiles come to God surrendering themselves. They spoke boldly to others about the Gospel of God and the Holy Spirit has worked in many lives to bring them to Salvation. Those who got filled with the Spirit did miraculous signs and worked for God’s Kingdom in His grace.

But, on the Last day, God will judge the world, whether one believes it or not. Those who know God, have faith in Him, depend on Him, and obey Him will call out to Him. God promised that ‘all’ who call out to Him will be delivered. He will pour out His Spirit of sanctification and adoption.

This scripture means that menservants or maidservants (who are under someone) will be made free spiritually as the Lord’s servants when He ‘pours’ out His Spirit to all. Not a trickle of Spirit, but an outpouring; this emphasizes how much of God’s Spirit will fill the Earth for those who want to receive it. And all servants, if they are willing, will be equally able to take a dip in this outpouring just as members of the Church.

The best part is in this scripture, the sons and daughters (God’s chosen), old and young men, menservants, and maidservants are all accounted for. When we are born again, we are born into God’s family.

There is a definite difference between a servant of God and a child of God.

A servant of God is part of God’s household and works to serve his master. (Hebrews 3:5)

Jesus adopted us as sons and daughters. (Hebrews 10:20)

We are adopted through our faith (Galatians 3:26-28)

Heirs of God suffer with him and are also glorified together. (Romans 8:17)

We shall be like Him. (1 John 3:2)

The choice is yours – do you want to be a servant in God’s household when He has made a path to be a part of His family?
