The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. – Psalm 103:6 (NIV)
One of the most prominent attributes of our God is His righteousness, and it is virtually synonymous with His justice. When we say that God is just, we mean that He always is right and fair.
Our Lord’s righteousness sets Him apart, and that is why He is so holy. A holy God cannot tolerate sin, and We, in our sinful nature, are not worthy to stand in God’s presence. Therefore, in His immense love for us, God the Father made a way – Jesus Christ, our Lord, became our righteousness. “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21.
It’s essential to receive the righteousness of Jesus our Lord. Once we receive it by faith, it’s up to us to keep working it by desiring holiness above all else and pursuing a Christ-like character. We need God to help us live a righteous and just life; we are ‘work in progress’ – keeping the goal of living every day with Jesus our Lord.
We can live right and just only by following the word of God, Psalms 119:9 “How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.”. The Lord will give us instructions to stay on the right path when we ask for His help. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. Psalm 32:8
In 1 Peter 1:17-19, the Lord urges us to be holy as He is holy, to live knowing that the precious blood of Christ redeemed us. God wants us to be like Him – right and just.
Praise the Lord and thank you for the precious Word! Indeed He ( Jesus ) ‘ is all my righteousness and I stand complete in Him’ as the song goes. And He works in us to be like Him! Thank you and God bless your Ministry. Ruth.
