Proverbs 3: 7-8

Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.

We know that nutritious food is good for our body. But there is something more important than food to keep us healthy.

When the Lord Jesus stepped down from heaven, He was both God and man. He had the power to perform incredible miracles, which proved His divinity. But He also felt hungry like every human on Earth, more so after fasting 40 days in the wilderness.

Satan immediately ceased the opportunity to tempt Jesus by telling Him to turn stone to bread if He was the Son of God. Jesus replied, Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” – Matthew 4:4

It is well known that food is required to survive, especially after fasting for 40 days. So why didn’t Jesus turn stone to bread and eat it?

The principles that govern this world, though important, do not surpass spiritual principles.

Hence, when Jesus was tempted by satan, He did not become wise in His own eyes and satisfy His hunger with bread. Instead, He shunned evil, knowing that such food would not carry health or nourishment.

Often, satan tempts us with things we desire. The Bible commands us, not only to stay away from evil, but to shun it (persistently avoid through a deep-seated feeling of strong dislike).

Let’s develop an attitude of shunning evil. It will open doors to God’s supernatural blessing!
