Deuteronomy 28:3 – “Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country.”
The first fourteen verses of Deuteronomy 28 are a delight to read, filled with incredible promises of blessings over our lives. Blessings concerning ourserlves, where we live, what we do, what we own, promises of victory over our enemies.
BUT, yes there is a “but”, we need to do one very important thing: “fully obey the Lord our God and carefully follow all His commands”. (Deuteronomy 28:1).
After all, don’t we do the same thing to our children? We also ask them to obey us and follow our instructions in order to be rewarded, and there is nothing wrong with this, as long as if what we ask them is reasonable, doable, and it is not “blackmailing”. For example: we don’t ask them to climb Mount Everest, or to go fly and Airplane.
So the Lord our God has also given us some basic instructions which we all should follow, obey, and then His “blessings will come upon us and accompany us.” (Deuteronomy 28:2). David also wrote in Psalm 23:6 that “Surely goodness and mercy will follow me (us) all the days of my (our) life”.
Who doesn’t want to be followed by God’s goodness, mercy, love and blessings? In fact, if all we need to do is to obey God, and to love Him with all our heart, mind and soul and strength (Mark 12:30), let’s not delay in doing what is right.
Let’s please God so He is pleased with us. Amen!
Praise the Lord
Thank you Jesus for the valuable basic instructions that you are teaching us. I am blessed let all of us also blessed by our Lord by obeying His commands.
