Sufficiency in Christ

2 Corinthians 3:5 NKJV

“Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God.”

With the surge in competition, mankind has tried to reach the zenith in every way. We have eventually succumbed to believing that our identity comes from our ability to meet needs and be self-sufficient. God has placed a great deal of strength inside each one of us. But we cannot solely rely on ourselves for strength to navigate life and accomplish something meaningful.

Human inadequacy, in contrast to divine enablement, has caused men throughout history to wage wars, sacrifice lives, and do everything possible in the hunt for the truth. When individuals rely on their own sufficiency instead of trusting in God’s endless provision, it leads to a dissatisfied life.

In the context of 2 Corinthians 3:5, Paul essentially talks about how ministry is possible only through the power of the Holy Ghost. While we have God-given abilities to be fruitful, we can bear the right fruits only through the Holy Spirit. Our contentment is not found in our ministry or leadership but in the fact that our heavenly Father loves us. It is only because of Him that we are worthy.
