Psalm 89:1
I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever; with my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations.
It is very easy to sing and praise God when everything is in place. When we have the answers to our prayers, and there is no disturbance in our seamless lives.
But Psalms 89:1 tells us that we shouldn’t praise God just for those good days, but forever. Praise Him even when life feels unfair, even when we’re in the lows, and throughout every season. There are times when the last thing we want to do is sing. But that’s what we need to learn from this verse.
When we raise our voice to sing, it’s as if God is gently reminding our hearts that He is still good. He’s still here. God’s mercy does not evaporate when the going gets tough. It returns every morning, sure and steady, even when we’re not.
“With my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations” is not just poetry. It is a purpose. It is our purpose to spread the word of God, to spread it for His glory. When we tell others what God has done, the huge miracles and subtle rescues, we’re planting seeds in people’s minds.
These tales may be held in memory by our family, friends, and even strangers long after we leave. So let’s keep singing. Let’s continue the conversation about God’s faithfulness. For our voice right now could be the reminder that someone else’s heart has been waiting for.
