Psalm 119:165
Great peace have those who love Your law, and nothing causes them to stumble.
When we genuinely love and live by God’s truth and follow His commandments, we walk in His blessing. His peace steadies our minds, strengthens our hearts, and equips us to face uncertain times. It does not make our lives problem-free, but it helps us grow in spiritual maturity and align our lives with God’s purpose.
In today’s verse, law doesn’t merely represent rules but God’s instructions, His ways, and His Word. God promises that those who love His ways and His Word will experience great peace. Peace here refers to “shalom”, which means wholeness, completeness, and harmony with God. It’s not a temporary peace that comes and goes but a peace that establishes God’s purpose in our spirit. It’s more than a temporary calm; it’s a settled confidence that comes from walking with God and trusting Him.
In this verse, God also promises that nothing can make us stumble. Spiritually stumbling is losing faith, harbouring unforgiveness, or living in sin. When we are rooted in God’s word, we become more sensitive to sin and develop spiritual resilience. The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin, and we respond through repentance.
Peace is closely connected to living in alignment with God. When we love God’s truth and meditate on it, our hearts become steadier and more fertile to receive His peace that surpasses our understanding. We also begin to build our lives on the solid foundation of His unshakable and irrefutable law.
Let’s take time to reflect and understand what steals our peace. How are we building our lives? Is it founded on God’s truth or on the teachings of the world? Let’s look to God and follow His footsteps to live a victorious life.
