Psalm 138:8
The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever.
In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth, there was a sequence of events, with a clear start and an endpoint. God did not leave anything incomplete but rested only after everything He created was good. To our human eyes, everything God created is beautiful and speaks of His creativity and faithfulness.
Yet, when there seem to be unprecedented delays or dry seasons, we wonder whether God sees our hopes and expectations. We find ourselves questioning God’s plans. We doubt if He’ll ever pull us out of our afflictions, deliver us from the enemy’s hand, or even heal our sickness. In such situations, Psalm 138:8 is a powerful assurance. God will finish the good work He has begun in us. He does not change His mind, abandon His plans, or disregard our prayers. Trusting this truth helps us have a positive outlook on life.
We must also remember that every blessing God has ever given, from the fall of Adam until today, is purely because of His grace and never because we deserved it. A mindset of entitlement can blind us into believing God owes us good things, but He lovingly corrects that attitude. He blesses us with good gifts to satisfy our souls because of His great love towards us. His everlasting mercy remains a beautiful promise for generations to come.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for having a perfect plan for each of our lives. You build us with wisdom and purpose, accomplishing what we could never achieve on our own. We’re grateful for the gift of Your mercy and unmerited favour. May Your kingdom be established through us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
