Psalm 119:166
Lord, I hope for Your salvation, and I do Your commandments.
Hope is something we all need, especially when we are waiting for God to answer our prayers or change our circumstances. In this verse, the psalmist shows us what genuine hope in God looks like.
He says, “I hope for Your salvation.” His hope is not merely a wish. It is a confident expectation that God will save and deliver him. He trusts God and waits for Him to fulfil His promises.
But the psalmist also does something more. He says, “And I do Your commandments.” His hope is not passive. His trust in God is reflected in the way he lives. While waiting for God’s salvation, he continues to obey God’s Word.
This teaches us an important truth: genuine faith produces obedience. We do not obey God to earn His salvation. Rather, because we trust Him, we desire to follow His ways. Genuine faith changes the way we live and leads us to honor God even when we are waiting.
Sometimes we do not understand what God is doing, or His answer seems delayed. During those times, let us continue to hope in Him and remain faithful to His Word.
Our hope should not make us sit still; it should strengthen us to keep walking with God. Let us hope in His salvation, trust His promises, and faithfully obey His Word while we wait.
Prayer: Lord, help us be faithful to Your Word at all times. Even as we wait for our deliverance and salvation, may we desire to obey Your commands. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.
