Psalm 119:49
Remember the word to Your servant, upon which You have caused me to hope.
We have all received promises from our loved ones. And at some point, we have likely reminded them of their promises, especially when we feel they might have forgotten or are unaware.
In Psalm 119:49, when the psalmist says, “Remember the word to Your servant,” he is not suggesting that God might forget His Word. Rather, he is asking God to fulfil the promise He has given. Amid his circumstances, he chooses to look back at what God has spoken and place his hope in it.
This is a beautiful picture of faith. Our circumstances may change, but God’s Word does not. When we are discouraged, His promises can give us hope. When we are afraid, His Word can give us courage. When we are uncertain about the future, His promises remind us that God is still in control.
The psalmist also says that God caused him to hope in His Word. This reminds us that even our ability to trust God is a work of His grace. As we spend time in Scripture, God strengthens our hearts and teaches us to depend on Him.
Today, let’s remember what God has spoken. Let us bring His promises into our prayers and hold on to His Word, even when we cannot yet see the answer. God never forgets His promises. His Word gives us hope, and His faithfulness gives us confidence to keep trusting Him.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help us place our hope in You and trust Your promises, even while we wait for answers. Give us patience, strength, and faith to believe in Your perfect timing. May we never lose hope, but continue to trust and follow You each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
