A healing God

Jeremiah 30:17:  For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after.

The nation of Israel had sinned against God which led to them being forsaken and hurt and also caused them ill-health.  They were looked down upon by other nations like they were outcasts.  Yet God in His mercy was willing to restore their health and heal their wounds and was willing to let them live a life of self-respect.  God’s mercy and faithfulness will never fail His people.  He is kind even if His people are unfaithful and waver away from Him.

God wanted Israel to know that He was going to bring them back to a prosperous condition.  He wanted to restore their health, both spiritual as well as temporal.  He said also that He would heal them of their wounds, i.e., pardon their sins and take away their afflictions.  God is the same to everyone who trusts Him.  His anger lasts only for a moment but His favor is life.  God will have mercy upon those who call upon Him.  We might have had bad pasts, people might have used and dumped us, we might have had shattered dreams, broken relationships, etc.  There is just one thing that God wants to tell us, i.e., He wants to restore our former condition.  He wants to restore health and activity in our life.

He will heal our wounds, both physical and emotional.  Maybe we were looked upon by some, but God will lift us up and re-build our lives.  The God of Israel is our God too.
