A Note of Encouragement

Psalm 29:11 – The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.

Life’s journey is hard alone. We need others with us to hold us accountable and to encourage us. Even then it is hard to succeed without the ultimate power of God. Our own strength is so feeble and frail compared to His infinite power and wisdom.

This verse is very encouraging when you feel weak, alone or afraid. You can almost imagine David writing this psalm as he watches a storm blow in from the sea. The power of the wind pushes against him and he is reminded of how God’s power moves us and guides us. As he hears the thunder David is reminded of the roaring of God’s voice. He sees a bolt of lightning shatter a mighty cedar tree and he is reminded of God’s wrath against the unrighteous. The pounding of the rain and the torrent flood waters remind David that it is God who sits on the throne.

Who really sits on the throne of your life? David saw God giving strength to His people and the blessing of peace. This happens when we let God be the true Lord of our lives. He should be the driving force of all we do. We can’t do it on our own.

We need to start all our efforts by looking things over and saying, “I can’t do it on my own strength.” Then put God on the throne and He will take you far beyond what you can possibly imagine and give you peace along the journey.

God does not take away trials or carry us over them, but strengthens us through them.
