A Satisfied Soul

Psalm 63:5-6 – “My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.”

Satisfaction seems to be elusive thing in the modern world. People buy the latest gadgets and gizmos, only to replace them a few years down the line. Young people jump from one job to another, seeking a career opportunity (and a paycheck) they are satisfied with. We eat from lavish buffets and still find room for just one more piece of dessert. Our hearts, minds and bodies are fickle, never really satisfied with what we have.

In today’s verses, we see that David had discovered the secret to soul satisfaction – praising God for who He is. Our soul cravings can only be met by Jesus Himself. The next time you find yourself unsatisfied and longing for something you can’t have, look to Jesus. Meditate on God’s Word. Remind yourself of who God is, and what He’s done for you so far. Choose to praise Him even in the midst of your problems. God will fill you with more of His grace and peace, and your soul will be satisfied.

Prayer: Lord, I think of all that You’ve done for me and I’m overwhelmed. Thank You for loving me as Your child. May my soul be satisfied with more of You in my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
