Active Hope

Job 11:18 And you would be secure because there is hope; Yes, you would dig around you and take your rest in safety.

Hope is a powerful state of mind! It makes bad situations good and good ones better.

But is hope enough? The answer to that question depends on where our hope is anchored. The source of our hope can change our understanding of this term.

The world understands hope differently. For them, it is only an expectation that things will get better.

Without Christ as the anchor for hope, hope becomes a passive feeling. But when God steps in, hope is activated!

Noah knew that the world would face unprecedented storms. He hoped for a bright future after the floods receded, but passive hope was not enough to get that far. An ark was in order!

That’s how it is when we place our hope in God. There may be storms around us; a thousand may fall at our side and ten thousand at our right hand, but our active hope in God will keep us safe.

And though, at times, it may seem like we are stuck in a smelly ark (and with all of those animals on board, it surely was smelly), you only need to look out of the porthole to realize that active hope has kept you afloat while the world is drowning.

With the many wars, diseases, and financial uncertainties, only one thing is for sure: those who hope in Jesus will thrive! It is time, not just to activate our hope, but to let our hope in Christ set us into action.
