Isaiah 43:22 – “Yet you did not call upon me, O Jacob; but you have been weary of me, O Israel!”
Do you remember the time you were so in love with God? You couldn’t stop thinking about how awesome He was. You kept recounting the wondrous things He had done in your life. Praise and thanksgiving were always on your lips. But then the honeymoon period ended, and life took over. The initial joy of knowing Christ faded; the worries and stress of life became more prominent.
Somewhere along the way, we’ve all been guilty of neglecting God. We choose to text a friend, rather than say hello to God. We prefer to check our phones in the morning, rather than our Bibles. We’d rather spend an hour flipping channels, than tune our ears to hear God. This problem was not unique to our generation alone. Centuries ago, the Israelites too were guilty of neglecting God. Every time the Israelites forgot about God and went about their own business, they flailed and suffered. But when they chose to turn back to God and seek Him earnestly, they were blessed.
Are you guilty of neglecting God in your day to day life? You can choose to make Him a priority in your life again. Make a conscious decision today, to turn your focus back to Jesus. Start praising Him for who He is; thank Him for what He’s done for you. Confess your weaknesses and talk to Him about whatever’s troubling you. You will find the joy of the Lord again, and He will keep you in perfect peace.
