John 1:12 (NKJV): But as many as received Him, to them He gave the [a]right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name
Family. We confide in, trust, talk to them, and can be ourselves with them. There is only one thing we need to do to make a family work – we have to open our hearts to them. The same way a mother believes the word of her children over anyone else’s, and the way her children love and trust her in return, is what makes their relationship real. If we can do this with people around us who care for us, why can’t we do this with God?
Only if we surrender ourselves to God can we earn the greatest gift of being His children. God then calls us His children. It is for us that He sent His only Son, Jesus, to die on the Cross and to bear our sins so that we could be reconciled with Him. As children of God, we have to talk to God the same way that we confide in our family on Earth. And just like any other relationship, our relationship with God exists only if we open the door of our hearts to Him. When we surrender ourselves to Christ, we let Him guide us and lead us in His plan and purpose for our lives and live every second with Him in our hearts.
Sometimes it may be hard to lean on God when we go through tough times. But if we open our hearts to Him, we can find our refuge in Him. We find ‘peace that passeth understanding’ and the ‘strength to move mountains.’ All it takes is our faith, even if it is the size of a mustard seed.
Imagine someone loves you with an unperishable, unstoppable and unfailing love? Only God can love us that much. And we, His children made in His image, can approach His throne of Grace.
