Psalm 84:1 – How amiable are thy tabernacles, O LORD of hosts!

When you truly spend time with God, you’ll realize that everything you were looking for to give you joy, strength, peace, and satisfaction is all found in Him! We must continually come and rest with Him; getting into the His Word to find and be in His presence.
The psalmist starts out with declaring the peace and joy he feels when being saturated in God’s presence.

1 How lovely is your dwelling place,
Lord Almighty!
2 My soul yearns, even faints,
for the courts of the Lord;
my heart and my flesh cry out
for the living God.

It shows that we must continually be in God’s presence every day and feed our soul with His Word, or we’ll starve spiritually. Our soul and flesh yearn for the spiritual food that only God can provide. That’s why people who seem to have it all, end up on drugs or another form of addiction that ruins their lives. It is God who can only fill that void in us; “the living God”, not a god that we make to falsely satisfy us for a moment and later chains us like slaves when we find we cannot stop it.

Gracious Lord, thank you for the reminder of Your on-going presence in our lives. May that give us both peace and purpose as we begin a new week. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
