Step Out

Genesis 12:1 – “Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee…”

It’s terrifying to step out of your comfort zone. If you’re the adventurous kind, you’ll jump at the opportunity to try something new and different. But can you imagine changing the entire course of your life, walking far away from the plans you’d carefully outlined for yourself, just because God asked you to? That’s exactly what Abraham did!

Abraham had to leave his father’s house, his entire background and upbringing and step out blindly, not knowing where God would lead him. As it turns out, Abraham lived a nomadic life and faced famines and hardships. But his trust in the Lord was not in vain. God miraculously blessed him with a son, and brought about nations from his offspring. He was also blessed with more than enough provision to thrive in a foreign land.

The same thing happened to Peter too. He stepped out of the boat in faith, believing that Jesus would make him walk on the water. If God is calling you to step out in faith and trust Him, not knowing the outcome, perhaps it’s time for you to obey. Soak yourself in God’s Word and allow the Holy Spirit to lead you forward. When you’re rooted in Christ, you can be sure He’s right beside you as you step out in faith.
