John 14:11

“Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.”

How often do we find ourselves troubled by life’s challenges and difficulties? It happens more often than we might like. During such times, simply knowing that Jesus is our Savior and that He is able to help us through these circumstances can bring comfort and peace.

In today’s verse, Jesus encourages His disciples to believe Him and the Father are one. When we pray to our Heavenly Father, asking for His help in the name of Jesus, it is not just the act of praying that brings change. Instead, it is our faith in Jesus, who is in union with the Father, that transforms our circumstances. Jesus’ relationship with the Father is the foundation upon which our faith stands.

In the passage, Jesus urges His disciples—who had already witnessed His many miracles—to believe in Him and the Father as one. This oneness of God brought about miracles during His time on earth, and it continues to work in our lives today. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). Jesus not only performed wonders in the past, but He still does so now through the power of the Holy Spirit.

As Jesus encourages His disciples, who saw Him perform miracles firsthand, to believe in Him and His works through the Father, He promises that those who believe without seeing will be blessed even more. “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed” (John 20:29). So, let us put our complete trust in Jesus, knowing that He has the power to transform our situations through the Heavenly Father who is in Him.
