Exodus 23:25 NKJV

So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you.

While leading the Israelites to the promised land, God warned the people that they would be traveling through lands that were filled with foreign and false gods. He knew that they would be tempted to worship other gods, so He made them a promise with a blessing in today’s scripture. God asked the people to worship and follow Him without being distracted, and He would bless their food, water, health, and productivity.

Serving God reveals our worship and obedience. God’s promises mandate our faithfulness to Him. He deserves all our devotion. We should not have any other gods that could divide our worship and obedience to Him.

When we serve God alone, He has promised to bless our bread and water – which indicates His provision. And He will take away sickness from the midst of us – which indicates His protection. Provision and protection are significant requirements for an individual. God is a promise keeper, hence if we are obedient and faithful, we shall see His provision and protection(Matthew 6:33). When we worship, obey, and trust God in faith, there is nothing to worry about.
