Boasting in the Lord

Psalm 34:1-2 NKJV

I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear of it and be glad.”

The psalmist David exemplifies a life of unwavering praise, even amid trials. When he penned these words, he wasn’t in a palace but fleeing for his life. Yet, his focus wasn’t on his circumstances but on the unchanging goodness of God.

David begins with a choice: “I will bless the Lord at all times.” Praise is not dependent on how we feel or what we face but on who God is. When our hearts overflow with gratitude, our mouths cannot help but testify. This is more than optimism—it’s a declaration of trust in Jesus Christ, who “is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). Through His death and resurrection, we have a steadfast reason to praise.

Boasting in the Lord is contagious: “The humble shall hear of it and be glad.” When we praise God, it lifts others, pointing them to His greatness. Charles Spurgeon once said, “Praise is the dress of angels, and it should be the garment of all God’s children.”

As you go through your day, choose to bless the Lord in every situation. Let your praise draw others to Jesus, the source of all hope. In every trial or triumph, may His praise continually be on your lips, transforming your heart and those around you.
