Come Back to God

Hosea 6:1 ESV

“Come, let us return to the Lord; for He has torn us, that He may heal us; He has struck us down, and He will bind us up.”

Hosea 6:1 speaks of people wanting to return to God after drifting away. They understand that even in their struggles, God aims to bring them back to a better place.

This verse offers an invitation to return. No matter how lost you feel, how much pain you’ve faced, or how many mistakes you’ve made, you can always come back to Him. When we turn away from God by making poor choices, ignoring His guidance, or being selfish, life can feel empty and tough. It’s not that God wants to punish us or is angry. Instead, He loves us so much that He allows us to feel the weight of our actions and draws us back to Him.

Just like a skilled doctor might need to operate to heal a wound, God lets us experience our own consequences to guide us home. God isn’t out to harm you; He wants to bring healing. He doesn’t act like an annoyed parent who might say, “I told you so,” but instead approaches us with understanding.

When we choose to return to Him, He doesn’t put us to shame or condemn. He restores and heals. So if you feel far from God or disconnected from Him, hear this as His call to you: “Come back. I long to heal you.” No matter how far you’ve drifted or what mistakes you’ve made, God’s arms remain open. He doesn’t reject; He renews.

Prayer: God, I apologize for the moments when I wandered away from You. Thank You for always embracing me back. Forgive my heart and guide me to walk with You once more. Amen.
