Complete Surrender

Luke 1:38

Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.”

When the angel visited Mary and told her she would bear the Messiah in her womb, one can imagine the shock it might have given her. Yet, Mary had her wits about her and carried on a conversation. The angel assured Mary that the Holy Spirit would come upon her and the power of the Most High would overshadow her (Luke 1:35).

The angel followed this by telling Mary about Elizabeth’s miraculous pregnancy (Luke 1:36) and ended by declaring that nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1:37). Armed with this assurance and her confidence in God, Mary faithfully surrendered to God’s will over her life – even if it threatened her impending marriage and possibly ruined her reputation.

A life of complete surrender to God’s will might not always be easy but it will always be worth it. The minute you give your desires into God’s hands and let Him have complete control, you can be assured He’s with you every step of the way. He will direct your paths and keep you under the shelter of His wings. The Holy Spirit will be your constant guide and companion – He will comfort and strengthen you in every circumstance. Submit yourself to God and experience His glory shining through your life.
