Psalm 103:1-2 – “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”
We’ve entered the very last day of 2015, and within twenty four hours we’ll be ushering in the new year. The past year might have looked different for each of us. Some have seen their dreams become reality, while others have faced disappointments. Or perhaps your 2015 has been a mixed bag… There were some great things that happened this year, but you also had to face quite a few trials.
Regardless of how the past year has been, there’s one thing we cannot fail to do – thank God for the year that was. Don’t let disappointments, losses and brokenness steal your joy. If you actually start counting all the blessings God has brought your way, you’ll truly be amazed! John Piper said, “God is always doing 10,000 things in your life, and you may be aware of three of them.” We can never know the many things that God is doing behind the scenes, but we can thank Him for what we do know.
Thank God that He’s brought you through yet another year… Thank Him for His grace and mercy that carried you through. Thank God for His provision and protection over your life. Thank Him for rescuing you from the pit of darkness and bringing you into His glorious light. And above all, be grateful that you have a God you can rely on, no matter what comes your way in 2016.
