Everyone who is called by My name, Whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him.” Isaiah 43:7
We often hear people asking this question, ‘What is the meaning of my life?’. For a Christian, the answer is very obvious. God reveals to us in His Word, exactly why we were created.
We are created in God’s image to give Him glory. This simply means that the good that people may see in us, in our conduct, our work, and our accomplishments, is designed to point to the grace, mercy, and Lordship of God, who truly is the one working in our lives. Nothing strengthens our faith like knowing God’s ultimate goal for the creation and discovering how to bring our heart and behavior into alignment with that goal.
The glory of God is the beauty and excellence of His manifold perfections. Man was made to rely on God and give Him glory. Instead, man chose to rely on himself and seek his own glory — to make a name for himself. So God elected Abraham and promised to achieve His purpose through him and his descendants so that God would get the glory. Since we belong to Christ, we are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise (Galatians 3:7).
God, in His infinite wisdom, chose us to glorify Him. It is such a privilege and oh, how it should humble us when we ponder this reality!
Prayer: Dear God, help me today to honor You and glorify You through my words, thoughts, and actions. Let my life always bring glory to Your Name and point people towards Your grace and mercy. Amen!
