“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned.” Isaiah 43:2-3
This sounds like an impossible promise, doesn’t it? But our God is the God of all impossibilities, of the improbable, of the unexplainable, of the unbelievable. These elements represent all the dangers, trials, tribulations, we will face in life.
There are a few promises in this verse. For one, we can be sure that we will go through trials, but the Lord assures us that: one, none of these trials will destroy us; two, that He will be with us when we are going through them.
Even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, He will protect us (Psalm 23:4); He will never leave nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5); we also know that the trials and tribulations produce in us perseverance, character and hope (Romans 5:3-4).
Not that we long for, or expect with excitement to go through trials and tribulations, but we also know that we all have our cross to bear, just as we know that “If Our God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31). Amen!
