Ephesians 4:32 – And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
The character of God is that of Love, Forgiveness, Grace, and Mercy. A love like no other, unconditional and unchanging. The Bible in Ephesians 4:31 tells us to get rid of all anger, hatred, malice. When we have these feelings and emotions in us, they drain us and make us look at everything negatively. Jesus in His teachings to His disciples; tells them to forgive 70 times seven times, in the Lord’s prayer He teaches them to pray, saying, we should ask the Lord to forgive us as we forgive the sins of others.
The Bible in Romans 12:20-21 tells us not to overcome evil with evil but rather overcome it with good. Galatians 5:22-23 says “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. “
When we keep anger, hatred, unforgiveness in our heart we are giving the Devil a breeding space in us. We are the children of God and need to emulate His character in our lives. We need to replace anger with forgiveness, hatred with love, because when we forgive others, God will forgive us. We must love others just as God loves us. Our lives will be happier this way and God will be pleased with us.
Dear Lord, today let me make a commitment to remove all hatred and anger towards others from my heart. Let me love them and forgive them just as you love me unconditionally and forgive me. Lord help me to emulate Your character in my life so that people will know I am your child. Amen.
