Equipped for Greatness

Psalm 18:35 – “Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.”

King David was an army man through and through. It’s strange to think of a meek shepherd boy fighting giants and conquering kingdoms, but that’s exactly what David did. God called him for greatness and equipped him to achieve it. David was prepared to defeat Goliath because he had already faced a lion and a bear head on. David was prepared to lead a kingdom because he had captained armies and led hordes of people.

When David fought to protect his sheep from wild animals, he might not have been too thrilled about it. But little did he know that was just a stepping stone on his road to greatness. We might not have to fight giants or rule kingdoms, but as children of God, each of us is destined for greatness. When you remain in God’s will, every challenge you come across prepares you for what God’s planned ahead for you.

You might not understand why you had to endure those trials, or face those desperate circumstances, but God does. He sees the big picture, and He’s using everything to equip you for His great plan. God doesn’t plan like man does. He doesn’t have a 5-year plan – He has an eternity plan! When you surrender to God’s leading and allow Him to have His way, you’ll see more of His goodness and grace on the road leading to your great destiny.
