Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Faith is such a familiar word that we often confuse it with blind trust. However, the Bible gives a very clear definition of faith. It calls faith a substance, and substance has weight and form. Instead of being vague, it is something you can hold. Additionally, the Bible calls faith evidence, and evidence always comes from truth. Because evidence points to something real, faith is not empty. Ultimately, biblical faith is something you carry in your heart before you see God’s answer. Therefore, faith stands on the solid truth of God and His promises.
The Hebrew word for faith in this verse is Emunah. It speaks of steadiness, firmness, and reliability. Moreover, it paints a picture of a heart that stays rooted in God. Rather than being a mere belief, it expresses a committed posture that says, “Lord, I will stand steady in You.”
The Greek word for faith is Pistis, which means trust, confidence, and reliance. Furthermore, its verb form, peitho, means “to be persuaded.” Consequently, we learn that faith grows with relationship. Our faith in God grows stronger when we remind ourselves of how He proves His love, comfort, and kindness in our lives again and again.
Because God sent His only begotten Son to the cross, we have the ultimate evidence of His love for us. In addition, the Holy Spirit in us, reminding us of His promises, becomes the substance we can hold on to. Therefore, let us build our faith in Him who is faithful.
As you meditate on today’s verse, look to Jesus and the cross. Then trust His timing. Trust His character. Trust His heart. Finally, take one step of faith today, knowing He holds you and will never let you go.
Praise God . It’s my manna for today and came to me at the right time .
