It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes. Psalm 118: 8-9
JESUS is the name above all names! Whenever we find ourselves in situations where we need help or support, it is natural to lean toward people, and those people can be our loved ones or friends and even influential people. In the Bible, The Book of Kings is a classic example of how GOD wants His people and His leaders to trust in Him more than anyone or anything. Everytime a king of Israel trusted in a foreign coalition or the treasures in his possession more than GOD, he ended up being a failure despite having the best resources and support.
On the contrary, kings who trusted in GOD, despite having no resources or experience, were prosperous and reigned longer. David trusted in GOD and hence five small pebbles were enough to kill a Giant Goliath, whereas King Ahab trusted in his devious wife Jezebel and had many political schemes, but we read how his end came to be and that GOD was not a part of his reign.
In Psalm 20: 7-8, David writes “some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our GOD. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise and stand firm“. In every situation of our life, let us look up to Jesus as our only source of strength and help. People may come and go, and powerful men may make false promises but our GOD who is all-powerful and faithful will stand with us through every situation of our life, and fulfill every promise of HIS. As we read in the word of GOD, those who put their trust in the Lord shall never be put to shame.
