Favour in the Famine

Proverbs 22:29 Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men.

In today’s corporate world, work culture is just as important, as our salary or work-life balance. How do we react when the culture at our workplace is awful?

The Babylonians attacked the Israelites and plundered their land. While, most of the Israelites, were put to death, some, like Daniel, were taken as prisoners to Babylon.

Daniel had every reason to be angry! He was about to lose the best years of his life to slavery. Moreover, his parents were killed by the Babylonians.

But Daniel looked at life from a different perspective. Surely he could not understand why he was in a situation as such. Nevertheless, he did not lose faith in God!

The Babylonian king ordered his men to select a few Israelites and shape them in the ways of the Babylonians. While the training was underway, Daniel stood out for two reasons. Firstly, he gave his best, irrespective of the unfair circumstances that surrounded him. Secondly, he was not influenced by the ways of the Babylonians.

Long story short, Daniel’s determination to do his best when everything seemed against him did not go unnoticed. God elevated him to one of the chief rulers in a foreign land. From prisoner to governor, Daniel’s journey was influenced by his faith, integrity, and positive attitude.

Do we feel stuck in a dead-end job with a woeful work culture? God has a habit of prospering people who give their best in bad situations. You will find favour in the famine! Do your best and trust God for an unusual miracle!
