Jeremiah 29:12 NIV
“Then you will call on Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.”
As Corrie Ten Boom once said, “Don’t pray when you feel like it. Have an appointment with the Lord and keep it.” Jeremiah 29:12 reminds us of this truth: “Then you will call on Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.”
These words were spoken by God to the Israelites during their exile in Babylon. They were a broken, displaced people, yet God reassured them of His faithfulness. The word “then” signifies a response to action—calling on the Lord, praying earnestly, and seeking Him with all our hearts. God desires us to come to Him humbly, trusting His plans and promises.
Prayer isn’t a last resort; it’s meant to be a way of life. In the story of the 10 lepers (Luke 17:11-19), all of them cried out to Jesus for healing, but only one returned to thank Him. That one leper was not just healed physically but made whole spiritually because he called out in faith and followed it with gratitude.
Let today’s verse encourage you to pray daily, not just in need but in gratitude. Reflect on the prayers God has already answered in your life, and thank Him for always listening. He is a God who hears, cares, and works in ways we often can’t see.
