God Knows Our Need

Matthew 6:25 (NKJV): Therefore, I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing.

Do children worry if they will get food tomorrow? Or if they will have clothes to wear next month? That’s right; the answer is no. They trust their parents to provide, and parents love to meet their children’s needs. In the same way, Abba Father desires to meet our needs – and He is able to meet every single one.

Worry is a sin and a sickness of the heart. It is a sin that many of us struggle with daily. Worry consumes our thoughts; disrupts our productivity; affects how we treat others; and reduces our ability to trust God. To protect us from the ill effects of worry, Jesus gives us a powerful reminder: God will supply our needs!

In verse 26, consider how God provides for even the smallest creatures. As insignificant as they are, birds and flowers have no reason to worry. If God provides for them, why would He not provide for you – you who are made in His image and purchased by the blood of His Son?

Is there a Biblical solution to worry? Yes, there is! Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Dearly beloved, if you want to see God’s provision in your life, you need to seek the things of Heaven. Let go of worry, self-centredness, and self-trust. With strength from the Holy Spirit, trust in the promise of God and wait on Him. He will surely see you through.
