GOD who does GREAT things

Psalm 126:3
The Lord has done great things for us, and we are glad.”

Psalm 126 probably is the psalm written when Israelites returned from Babylon captivity. The theme of this Psalm is Restoration, Joy, and Gratitude. Here the psalmist, a Jew, recognizes what God has done for them and acknowledges that they did not have any part in the great things accomplished. So, God alone deserves all glory.

Psalm 126:2 says, “Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.”.” When we recognize God’s hand in our lives, not only are we filled with gladness or joy, but others will also witness the greatness of our God. Counting our blessings is always healthy because then joy and happiness will be the regular norm of our lives.

His restoration is wholesome and affects every area of our lives. We can see in this context that there was the restoration of materialism, reputation, social state, mental state and spiritual state.

In God, there is always a 180-degree turnover. He will never leave us in our dejected state for long. He is just a prayer away. When it is all finished, and we have endured all things with faith in Jesus Christ, we have the promise that “God shall wipe away all [the] tears from [our] eyes” (Revelation 21:4).

We cannot hide God’s blessings, they will surely be witnessed by people around us. They will be in awe of God’s works and will thereby recognize His power. When we are filled with His presence, joy will prevail; weeping and mourning have to end, for they are momentary.

Blessed Day Ahead
