II Peter 3:18: But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
A child of God needs to grow in the grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We are saved by grace and we need to continue to grow in the grace by which we are saved. Just like how a plant needs proper amount of sunlight and fertilizer to grow and bear fruits, we need to grow and bear fruits spiritually. We need to grow in grace and in the knowledge of Jesus.
God’s grace enables us to grow spiritually. Grace reminds us that it is not because of our talents or our abilities that we are saved but it is because God chose us to adopt us in His family. Not only should we grow in grace, we should also grow in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We should have the knowledge that God is all knowing and all powerful. We should grow in the knowledge that God loves us. God is a loving God and He is quick to forgive. We should know that He offered His life as a ransom for many that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. We should never remain in the first steps of our faith in Jesus but should continue to send our roots down in God’s word and by meditating deeply on it. Once we start sending our roots deep, we will realize that it is the grace of God that will help us lead a holy life and to bear rightful spiritual fruit.
God’s grace is amazing. We cannot fully comprehend the wisdom of God. It will take all our life span to exactly know the truth of God’s love and grace and to grow in His knowledge. Nevertheless, we should depend always on His grace and His knowledge to be able to grow. To God be the glory for ever. Amen.
