Revelation 21:3 – And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
When her husband passed away, she stopped preparing sambar with drumsticks and brinjal in it because that was his favourite. Her daughter once enquired why she never made sambar anymore. She replied solemnly that it reminded her of her dad and that made her very sad as he liked it very much. She was quite taken aback at her daughter’s reaction when she cheerfully mentioned, “Daddy must like heaven more than sambar!”
Her daughter had hit the nail on the head. She was absolutely right!
Heaven is a much better place. Remembering this can help ease our sadness when things on earth wear us out. Our friends and family who have heavenly addresses are much happier there because:
- Heaven is God’s home. God’s followers will enjoy His presence for all eternity (Rev. 21:3-4).
- Heaven is comfortable in every way. Heaven’s residents will never be sick or upset (21:4), hungry or thirsty (7:16).
- Heaven is a beautiful place. A “clear as crystal” river will flow from God’s throne (22:1), and God Himself will give heaven its light (22:5).
Hurray! Jesus Christ is risen! Hurray! His death bought for us our redemption! Hurray! Our permanent home is heaven!
Jesus’ resurrection assures us that our stay on earth and the weariness of this world is only temporary. Do things of this world make you yearn for heaven? Be comforted in knowing that those gone before are enjoying that heaven – unimaginably beautiful and amazing place that we can’t wait to go there! Even the best pleasures of this world cannot be compared to the joys of heaven.
Jesus is risen! He is alive! He has gone to prepare a place for us!
