Psalm 124:8 – “Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.”
All of us require a helping hand once in a while. Perhaps it’s encouragement from a friend, physical assistance from family or a favor from a colleague. When we’re in dire straits, we immediately think of the people we know who can help us out. Sometimes, people willingly oblige but there are times when we might be left in the lurch.
One might think it’s human nature to look out for our loved ones and help them when they’re in need. But perhaps it’s more than human nature – it’s God’s nature. We exhibit the tendency to help others because we’ve been made in the image of God. The next time you find yourself in need of help, make sure you whisper a prayer to your Father above before you look to the people around you.
Friends, family, associates and the resources you possess only have a limited ability to help you. But God is not limited in any way. He made the vast expanses of heaven and earth – there’s nothing He can’t do. When you look to the Lord for help, you know He hears you. God sees your situation and He can make a difference in your life. You just have to ask Him.
