Trust Breeds Peace

Isaiah 26:3 – “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”

Have you ever been on a rollercoaster? It can be a thrilling experience. But it can also be terrifying if you’re afraid of heights, or if you’re worried about the safety of the equipment. We are more likely to be at peace if it’s a known amusement park ride we’ve previously ridden – one that’s been regularly checked and serviced. Peace exists only where trust has already been built.

A little boy doesn’t mind being thrown up in the air because he trusts that his father will catch him. In much the same way, we are more likely to experience peace in our lives when we have absolute faith that our Heavenly Father is in control of our lives. Today’s verse reminds us that when we trust in God, we are focused on Him. We face internal turmoil only when our minds wander away to our worries, fears and problems.

As long as your mind stays on God, you will experience perfect peace because you know He won’t let you down. Do you find yourself devoid of peace? The only way you can find it again is when you fix your eyes on Jesus. Go back to God’s Word, meditate on His promises, spend time in His presence and experience true, lasting peace.
