Holiness Of God

Psalm 99:5
Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at His footstool—He is holy”.

Holiness is the character of GOD. It is who He is. He is not like anything or anyone we can come up with. He is above us and beyond us. When we encounter the Holiness of God, it brings us to repentance because we immediately see ourselves for who we are. He is incomparable, matchless, without parallel. In Isaiah 40:25, God Himself challenges: “Who will you compare Me to, or who is My equal?

God has commanded us to be Holy; as it says in 1 Peter 1:16 “For it is written: Be holy because I am holy.” We are His children created to glorify His name by living and striving every day to be more like Him. We are holy because we have been bought with the blood of Jesus and are not our own (1 Corinthians 6:19, 20.) We have been set apart by God’s grace for God’s purpose.

How can we match the standard of Holiness that God desires from us?

What His holiness demanded; His grace provided in Jesus Christ our Lord. He took our sins and clothes us with his Holiness. Now we stand before God in a righteousness that is not our own, forgiven and accepted. The holiness of God protects us from spiritual pride and drives us to the Savior. He alone is able, to make us one with God. God reveals his holiness to us not as a warning that we should run from him in fear; but as a welcome to run to Him. It is where weak and failing sinners always find the grace that lasts forever.
