Humble Yourself Before God

Psalm 95:6 “Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker”

In ancient times, as an act of showing reverence and honor to the kings and authorities, one must bow down before them. On a similar line here, the psalmist mentions the three acts of showing a humble attitude before God, our maker. They are worship, bowing down and kneeling before the maker of us.

It is not only during ancient days, as largely a modern tradition, that guys go on their knees when they propose to a girl. What was the reason for that? It’s likely for two main reasons to express humility before ‘to be life partner’ and kneeling signifies more than just submission. It shows respect and an intent to put the bride before him.

Having said this, how much more it’s momentous for us to humble ourselves before God, the maker and creator of us and this whole universe. We serve the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords (1 Timothy 6:15) and nothing can stand before Him. Everything must bow before God. We may go through many challenges in daily life. Let us not fail to remember to humble and submit before God and put His will before our will. When we humble ourselves before God, He will lift us up in due time!
