Humble yourselves

James 4:10:  Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

God loves those who are humble in their attitude as well as approach.  He doesn’t favor the proud or the haughty ones.  When we humble before God, He shall lift us up.  Humble means to be modest and not arrogant.  God loves such people.

Whatever we have done in our lives or accomplished doesn’t matter to God if we are not humble.  During the time of Jesus, there lived the Pharisees and the Sadducees.  They had their own human standards added to God’s word.  They judged people on these standards.  They were arrogant and proud of themselves.  They thought they were the ones who “loved” God when actually they were not.  If we try to throw our weight around and take God and people for granted, this kind of an attitude is an attitude which will never be appreciated.  On the other hand, if we love God and His people and do what He wants,   He will lift us up to greater heights from the present condition that we are in.

Let us learn to love and obey God in all the aspects of our life.  Humility and or being humble is one among the many traits that a child of God should develop.  Pride goes before a fall.  Foolishness and arrogance can bring destruction to our very selves.  Humility brings us God’s favor and establishment.  Let us choose to be humble just like how Jesus was.  Amen!
