Is Jesus Truly Lord?

Matthew 7:21

Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

Today, let’s begin by examining our prayer time. How many times did we call Jesus, “Lord”? When we talked about Him, did we refer to Him as “Lord”? In our desperation, many of us cry out, “Lord, Lord”. Now, let’s think about when we stand before Him at the end of days. Whenever we call or refer to Jesus as “Lord”, are we intentionally calling out to the Lord of our life? Or is it out of habit that we call Jesus, “Lord”?

In this scripture, Jesus is talking about those of us who go to church, read the Word, know of Him, know Him, and even those who have ministered in His Name. Jesus said that unless we do the will of His Father, we will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

No, He isn’t saying our works get us to Heaven—nor our words, our devotion, our worship, or our church attendance. Instead, the fruit of a surrendered life where Jesus is truly Lord is obedience to His Word. This is a life marked by constant self-examination and repentance. It is not a life of perfection or sinlessness but an unrelenting pursuit of holiness and submission to the Lordship of King Jesus. Hebrews 5:9 says, “And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him.”

Consider this. Every time we call on Jesus as “Lord” or refer to Him as “Lord” in our conversations, let it come out of the abundance of our hearts, not just lip service. Let our lives indubitably display that Jesus is our Lord.
